5 new species were added to the July census count, bringing the number of species observed on the July count to 101 over the last 10 years. Those species were Lesser Yellowlegs, Eastern Bluebird, American Pipit, Prothonotary Warbler, and Northern Waterthrush. The Prothonotary Warbler was a first for any census route conducted over the last 10 years and brings the total number of species observed on census routes to 234. The American Pipit and Northern Waterthrush were very early migrants. The pipits have not been observed before the September census and the waterthrush has not been observed before the August census I the past 10 years. This was the 116th monthly census conducted since November of 1997. Only the months of January and February of 2000 were missed since the start of the monthly census. ~~ Tom Bartlett
