Kelleys Island
Feathers and Foliage
Bird Festival

Saturday, September 20, 2008

Please come and join us for a day full of entertainment!

How close have you gotten to a bird?

Come and join us at the Long Point Bird Banding Station at the end of Monagan Road between 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM where you can see Master Bander, Tom Bartlett,  and his assistants netting, banding, measuring and recording bird species and relevant data. You will have an opportunity to “adopt a bird” and may even get to touch or release a bird. Make sure you bring the little ones, as this is a very popular event with children.

Are you new to birding?

Whether an experience or new birder, assemble at a location to be determined to meet with our bird guide. We will be looking for fall migrants at one of the islands nature preserves.

Would you like to learn more about trees?

Come to the Kelleys Island State Park fisherman’s parking lot at the north end of Division Street at 1:00 PM  to meet Mike Monnett, our Kelleys Island State Park Manager.  He will lead you on a walk and share his knowledge of the local trees and vegetation. Once again this Tree Identification walk is rated easy to medium.

Kelleys Island is an Ohio IBA
